From Prof Samantha Thomas & the team at Deakin Universityđ"Do something about it before it gets worseâ: young people want government action on gambling reform theconversation.com/do-something-a⊠via The Conversation - Australia + New Zealand #EndGamblingAds

Wesley Mission congratulates Anthony Albanese & the ALP on their re-election to form the 48th Parliament. We look forward to deepening our relationship & collaboration with the Federal Government on key priorities like #housingaffordability, #gamblingreform & #suicideprevention. #Auspol

Please explain Woolworths. Itâs not enough that you once owned more poker machines in Australia than any other publicly listed company - you now have to start grooming kids to gamble with toy pokies as well! #PutPokiesInTheirPlace #NSWPol #AusPol

It's clear recent minor reforms are just tinkering, as poker machine losses in NSW continue to increase. When will Mr Chris Minns and Mr Mark Speakman come together to get serious to address the harm being done, which churches and charities see all the time.

NSW Audit Office report confirms what we already knew - the NSW govt is failing to seriously address the state's gambling harm public health crisis. Predatory pokies are siphoning over $24m a day out of NSW communities. It's time to #PutPokiesInTheirPlace theguardian.com/australia-newsâŠ

âŠCrown Resortsâ© Sydney doesnât need 500 cashless pokies to âprove the technology worksâ. Itâs 2,500 machines in Melbourne have already done that. What we need is the NSW govt to commit to making ALL pokies in NSW cashless. #PutPokiesInTheirPlace smh.com.au/national/nsw/nâŠ

Shameful shift in language used by âŠChris Minnsâ© & âŠDavid Harris MPâ©. From a commitment to cashless gambling to falsely claiming itâs âalready failedâ. From reigning in a problem industry to blaming the industryâs victims. #PutPokiesInTheirPlace theguardian.com/australia-newsâŠ

âMookhey is a smart political operator, a deep thinker and a good treasurer. But on poker machine tax reform he has revealed himself to be disappointingly weak.â Daniel Mookhey Itâs time to put communities above clubs and #PutPokiesInTheirPlace smh.com.au/politics/nsw/tâŠ

Both Chris Minns & Mark Speakman should commit to the following reforms recommended by experts: 1âŁMandatory poker machine shutdowns from midnight to 10am; 2âŁA state-wide cashless gambling card with enforceable limits; 3âŁTighter caps on machine numbers in high-risk communities.

âThe record pokies tax take on gamblersâ losses is by far the biggest line item on the catwalk of sin taxes, and by the end of the forward estimates rakes in more than 40 times the money generated by betting (wagering) on 4-legged crittersâ. @themandarinau themandarin.com.au/294417-nsw-budâŠ
