Jimmy Carter National Historical Park mourns the passing of James Earl Carter, Jr., 39th President of the United States and devoted supporter of the park that bears his name. His death follows the passing of his beloved wife of 77 years, Rosalynn Carter, in November 2023.

This morning, National Park Service staff had the honor of saluting President Carter's hearse as it paused before his boyhood farm. The farm bell, which once woke young Jimmy Carter at 4 a.m. to begin his daily chores, rang 39 times in tribute to the 39th president.
