We heard about letting go of our need to be right, to listen carefully & with empathy to our opponent’s stories, to allow space for change, to feel anger without hurting others, not to try to change the past (through revenge) & dealing with accusations of betrayal BBfPeace

Last night, I spoke at Clonard Monastery with Pat Magee and was brilliantly interviewed by Steve Stockman. It was the launch of a year-long series of events in Northern Ireland, bringing compassion and shared humanity. I was so moved by the incredible response and insightful questions.

After our conversation, my heart is so full. The power of listening, acknowledging, and demonstrating empathy is more impactful than using force and control. I find always speaking in Belfast very healing and transformational.

Last night I spoke with young people in new Lodge, Belfast, the youth centre was filled with activity and yet in the room I was in, they listened and really heard my words. They responded with such depth and gratitude that I was there. My heart was very touched, such a privilege

Such moving feedback, Youth Worker said do you know that young person never speaks up and we were shocked Young person said “ the workshop was amazing and the reason why I opened up was because I could relate to Jo and I just felt it was safe to speak up” This is why I do my work
