Dialogue with Vice Principals attending an NTU executive development program today, focused on diversity & inclusion in NZ education. Stimulating exchange - including 🥮 and stunning student-painted plate inspired by his Jurong bird park visit

Tulips travelled from Kazakhstan (the name comes from Kazakh word for hat!) through Netherlands and all the way to NZ. The journey brought together with bulbs from New Zealand featuring at Tulipmania #GardensByTheBay. Beautiful!

So pleased this in-person meeting could happen. Virtual diplomacy is all very well, but nothing beats face-to-face. Look forward to expanding 🇸🇬 🇳🇿 cooperation on climate change/sustainability Nanaia Mahuta

Kanohi ki te kanohi - so pleased a face to face meeting with Vivian Balakrishnan could be arranged to cement our strong 🇸🇬 🇳🇿 bilateral relationship.

We all think we know what a world map looks like, right? Went round 🇸🇬 National Library exhibition of cartography from an Asian perspective: political, religious, journey-driven - not geographically precise. Extraordinary pieces collected

Of course, for ages, the South was a big unknown - though drawn at the top of Arabic maps - and usually shown as a brown blob. By 1846, though, both Australia and New Zealand(!) had made it into the picture.

Renowned marine biologist Dr Sylvia Earle featured at a🇸🇬 Youth4Climate event supported by CDL. Despite a gruelling travel schedule, she spoke compellingly about interconnections between climate crisis, oceans and biodiversity. NB: all women speakers bar one

Anzac Day Dawn Service at Kranji cemetery. So grateful, after two years of pandemic, public could attend, AIS choir sang and Last Post/Reveille played - hauntingly - live. Told my great uncle’s sad story: his escape from 🇸🇬 and eventual death in POW jail.

Removal of a woman’s right to make decisions over her own body is deeply upsetting. 🇳🇿 has decriminalised abortion & treats it as a health issue. This reflects a woman’s right to choose. People can have their own convictions on abortion, but can’t rob others of their choices.
