Put another way, this bill would increase the number of uninsured people in the US by about a third, compared CBO's prior estimate projecting 32 million uninsured in the early 2030s. It does this to fund tax cuts for the wealthy while still adding trillions to the deficit.

By deleting a few imp words from the E&C bill, the reconciliation bill the Hse Rules cmte is likely to advance creates an unconscionable decision for states: end health coverage for lawfully residing immigrant kids & pregnant adults or face steep federal Medicaid $ cuts.

If House Republican Medicaid and ACA cuts pass, and enhanced ACA premium tax credits aren't extended, the state with the biggest increase in the number of people uninsured: Florida.

I'm not sure I've ever seen such a brutal distributional analysis from CBO. This contrasts the Medicaid and SNAP cuts for the lowest decile with the tax cuts for the top decile.

A small language change in the version of the reconciliation bill that is being considered today made a big change in what's at stake for health coverage of lawfully residing children and pregnant people kff.org/medicaid/issue…

Also on this theme the manager’s amendment moved up the implementation date of 6 mos redeterminations for all adult Medicaid expansion folks (includes parents) to 12/31/26 from 10/1/27.

It's shocking that they are voting on this budget bill tonight, just 10 days after the first draft of the text was submitted, and just a few hours after significant amendments, and without a full CBO score analyzing the impacts, including of the millions who will lose coverage.

Another consequence of the Medicaid provisions are to strongly deter any more states from taking up the ACA Medicaid expansion. 1. Repeals existing FMAP incentives for new expanders 2. Creates tighter limit on new SDPs for expansion states which will deter states from expanding.

Well, that was quick. POLITICO is reporting that the CMS Medicaid/CHIP Director, Drew Snyder, has resigned. Snyder previously served as Mississippi's Medicaid Director. Stepping in for now is Caprice Knapp former ND Medicaid Director.

New CBO score is up on House bill. Overall Medicaid and ACA cuts lead to an increase in the uninsured of 10.9 million people. This does not include 4million ⬆️ in uninsured people from expiring ACA subsidies. cbo.gov/publication/61…

As the House bill went to the floor some demanded more cuts to Medicaid. Based on the new CBO score out today, the largest cut to Medicaid ever went up by c. $75 billion as a result of these changes in the House passed bill. Medicaid cuts now 🟰 $863 billion.
