If you've been digging these vintage Hawkwind cuts I've been sharing (and assuming you don't already have a copy!), may I then recommend this splendid oral history of the band 😉 daysoftheunderground.com/sideways-throu… STT is NOT on Amazon et al, but can be bought here: strangeattractor.greedbag.com/buy/sideways-t…

And talking of vintage Hawkwind cuts, here's today offering from the British Library archive, a report in NME (12 Nov 1977) on Robert Calvert's wedding! Oh, and the KGB... Pamela Townley looks like she's already wondering what she's got herself into...

Saw Witchfinder General at BFI South Bank last night as part of its Moviedrome retrospective, with an entertaining introduction by Reece Shearsmith (somewhat undercut by Alex Cox's less than excited original intro). So much riding around on horses in this film... But that ending!

Here are some pics from the world premiere performance of Judge Smith's Requiem Mass on Saturday. It was a tremendous show, and both David Jackson and Hugh Banton were in attendance (pic by Phil Smart, shared from the unofficial VdGG/Hammill FB page)

My friend Tony has been doing a Dr Who/Tom Baker re-watch, and spotted this excellent Van der Graaf Easter egg, a character from 1978's The Ribos Operation. 'K' was one of Peter Hammill's nicknames, though not, I think, widely known at the time, which is doubly intriguing...

Here's a lovely picture of Ozzy ('Ossie') from an early Sabbath promo shot, printed in Disc & Music Echo following the release of their debut album (courtesy of Peter Stanfield) He looks like an innocent waif, entirely unaware of what lay ahead...

Here's the one piece I've done on Sabbath and Ozzy, published ten years ago. I think it says some stuff you don't usually see written about them, and is one of my favourites of my own articles. daysoftheunderground.com/post/black-sab…

You'll need to zoom in a bit, but here's a great pic of every cover of Hawkfan, Brian Tawn's legendary Hawkwind fanzine, a vital source of info re the band, particularly in the pre-internet era. First issue published in 1977 and still going strong today!
