Grey Phalarope, Dartmouth Park Boating Lake, West Brom 26/09. I’ve had lots of great birding experiences so far this year and watching this bird and having it swim within a foot or so is definitely up there with the best of them. As always, thanks to the finder.

Warks #nocmig Quail recorded 03:19am 11/06/23 a site first for Earlswood Lakes. The typical 'Wet My Lips' NFC calls of a Quail prefaced by hoarse 'Mau Wau' calls emanate from a single bird.West Midland Bird Club

6 Waxwings dropping onto the ornamental rowan trees outside the Longbridge Business Park on the Bristol Road. BirdGuides

Six Waxwings were dropping from their perch on Broughton Crescent and feeding along the Bristol Road, Longbridge early afternoon today. Interchangeable conditions made for some atmospheric photos. Thanks to the original finder.

Another decent weekend of patch-birding. A male Red-crested Pochard found by Joe Owen on Saturday was 2nd record for the lakes & a patch tick for me. Then a 1w Med Gull at Engine Pool on Sunday was my first in a while.

Wyre Forest, 05/05/24. Tawny Owl, male and female Pied Flycatchers and Dipper.

Amazing encounter with a Weasel found hunting in Terry's feeder channel this morning. Continuously on the move, investigating every log and upturned tree root, pausing briefly to eye up the observer. My first sighting of this mustelid around the Lakes.

Out of my normal habitat / comfort zone but 1st year White-crowned Wheatear at Protarus a little earlier today. ⁦BirdsAroundCyprus⁩
