A special mention to the catering and hospitality students of Carlisle College who prepared and served a first class lunch to over one hundred representatives of local businesses and organisations attending the skills fair. Thank you and well done to you all.

The sub-text is that if Heathrow goes ahead then other projects will be vetoed due to the ā€˜climate/carbon budget’. There will be a long list of other projects to be cancelled around the country to balance this out…

Thank you to the 80+ businesses and organisations that joined us at the Skills Fair last Thursday. What a great day it was and here’s a few pictures to prove it. See you next year!

Keir Starmer said he’d freeze council tax when he wanted your vote. Now he’s in government, he’s putting it up. The whole country is sick to death of his constant betrayals.

Always a pleasure to catch up with Tom Tugendhat, MP for Tonbridge. We discussed how Conservatives For Business will support UK SMEs—including those in his patch. Our goal? A platform where business and politics connect, collaborate, and help shape future Conservative policy. Get involved!

There's a new think-tank launched today in Newcastle and it's called 'True North' - developing policies for the 3 million people who live in Cumbria and the North East. Here's its chair John Stevenson writing in today's Northern Agenda newsletter 1/2

It was inspiring to attend the launch of TrueNorthPolicy, bringing together various stakeholders & thinkers in the North East and Cumbria to 'influence national and regional government to adopt radical policies to improve economic and social outcomes'. Looking forward to the next!

I spoke to John Stevenson about his involvement in new think tank TrueNorthPolicy which aims to ensure the 'true north' isn't overlooked or forgotten in government policy discussions. newsandstar.co.uk/news/24998355.…

We welcome £2.8bn investment in the transport infrastructure in the #TrueNorth - it's really important to invest in this infrastructure & connect those areas. It does look like it's the same money that was previously allocated to the A1 in 2023 and to HS2 before that - recycling.

These are conservative principles. Fixing the economy not promising more debt, more dependence, just to satisfy today and let tomorrow suffer. The left wing parties - some nationalist, all socialist - are promising more spending, more state control, and more misery.

The current yield on 10-year gilts (UK bonds) is 4.65% v peak of 4.42% during the ClusterTruss The current yield on 30-year gilts is 5.25% v peak of 5.12% during the ClusterTruss. So UK government now paying more to borrow (and has been for sometime) than during ClusterTruss.

One year on, this video has proved astonishingly accurate. > Taxes up £40bn last year, and set to rise again this autumn > 20,000 illegal small boat crossings already in 2025 - the worst year ever
