They screwed up with Abrego Garcia and doubled down. They screwed up with Harvard and doubled down. And then, when judges issue sensible orders *in response to their own mistakes* they call it judicial tyranny.

Trump is a dipshit simpleton. He doesn’t understand that tens of thousands of troops were killed and wounded between May and August of 1945, so May 8th as Victory Day for WWII makes no sense from as a starting point. Worse yet, changing Veterans Day to Victory Day for WWI

Trump did it again... “Around the world, Mr. Trump’s unpopularity presents an opportunity to center-left political parties,” said Michael Fullilove, executive director of the Lowy Institute, a Sydney think tank. washingtonpost.com/world/2025/05/…

Trump’s trade war could make the world more dangerous, as did trade wars of the past, writes Allison Carnegie. “Alliances may fray as countries look to hedge their bets, diversifying economic ties rather than simply trusting their partners.” foreignaffairs.com/world/when-tra…

In Foreign Affairs, Bonny Lin, John Culver, and I argue: 1) Beijing's perceptions of Lai are worsening, akin to their views of Chen Shui-bian. 2) China is now more willing to use its military. 3) Perceived divisions in the Trump admin raise the risk of Chinese miscalculation.

My new piece in the New York Times is an urgent wake-up call. China is forging ahead on the industries of the future: AI, robotics, high-tech manufacturing. Meanwhile, Trump is destroying the pillars of US strength by slashing public R&D funding and scaring away foreign talent.

Trump on June 4, 2019 endorsed the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre... "... they were vicious, they were horrible, but they put it down with strength. That shows you the power of strength. Our country is right now perceived as weak …"

Little know fact about the 1989 Tiananmen Square crisis... the PLA's intervention was opposed for weeks by many senior generals. By 1993, some of them were running the PLA, while those most closely tied to the bloody crackdown were gone.
