No Nolan Arenado (sprained right index finger) again today for the #STLCards when they face the #Braves at Busch Stadium at 1:15 PM CT. Thomas Saggese starts at 3B. Erick Fedde gets the start on the mound.

#STLCards RHP Erick Fedde allowed just one hit in the first inning, but it was a doozy. #Braves star Ronald Acuna Jr. hit a towering home run that had a 39 degree launch angle and it hung up in the air 6.7 secounds. ATL 1, STL 0

#Braves slugger Marcel Ozuna destroyed this 89.8 middle-middle fastball from struggling #STLCards starter Erick Fedde, who has already been taken deep twice. This ball left the bat at 106.3 mph and traveled 422 feet.

Lefty slugger Nolan Gorman hit the first pitch he saw from #Braves LHP Aaron Bummer for a two-run HR to tie the game at 3. The #STLCards DH hit the ball 423 feet for his ninth HR of the season. The HR followed an RBI single by Thomas Saggese.

Maybe it was no coincidence that #Braves sluggers Ronald Acuna Jr. and Marcell Ozuna homered in the first inning off #STLCards RHP Erick Fedde. Acuna is now 6 for 18 with three HRs against Fedde, while Ozuna is 10 for 16 with three HRs vs. the STL RHP.

After his offense wiped out an early 3-0 deficit and got the game tied, #STLCards RHP Erick Fedde retired Matt Olson, Ronald Acuna Jr. and Sean Murphy in order in the third. After allowing 3 ERs, 2 HRs and 4 Hs in the first seven ABs of the game, Fedde has retired six straight.

#STLCards Erick Fedde rebounded from a slow start by retiring 10 of 12 #Braves. However, he walked Matt Olson following a 12-pitch at bat and manager Oliver Marmol signaled RHP Gordon Graceffo in relief. One reason for the change: Acuna is 6 for 19 with 3 HRs all-time vs. Fedde.

#STLCards RHP Gordon Graceffo, who was recalled from Triple-A Memphis today, was called on in the fifth inning to face #Braves superstar Ronald Acuna with two on and two out. Graceffo used an 84.5 mph curveball below the zone to induce chase and strike out Acuna.

As the sixth inning starts, #STLCards utility fielder Jose Fermin replaced Lars Nootbaar in LF. Nootbaar is 0 for 2 today with a ground out and a strikeout. No reason given yet for the outfielder's departure from the game.

#Braves RHP Rafael Montero got great run on this splitter, but #STLCards reserve catcher Yohel Pozo proved himself to be a great bad ball hitter once again. He drilled this pitch 406 feet for his fourth HR of the season. It left the bat at 108 mph and put the #STLCards up 4-3.

#STLCards LF Lars Nootbaar was removed from the game with "left side discomfort," per the club. Nootbaar has struggled with rib pain and an intercostal strain for several weeks.

Sean Murphy, the catcher the #STLCards considered trading for in 2023, but ultimately decided against, drilled a three-run HR to give the #Braves a 6-5 lead. Cards RHP Phil Maton, who has been an All-Star quality reliever all season, allowed his first HR in 365 days.

How's that for a way to start the Futures Game?! St. Louis Cardinals top prospect JJ Wetherholt belts a leadoff double 105.9 mph on the 3rd pitch he sees. Watch LIVE: atmlb.com/44qgNDU

Facing a 3-2 pitch in a 6-5 game in the bottom of the eighth inning, #STLCards 3B Thomas Saggese drew a walk to load the bases for lefty slugger Nolan Gorman. Gorman homered earlier in the day.

Daysbel Hernandez's 1-2 pitch to Gorman got away from catcher SEan Murphy for a wild pitch, allowing the #STLCards to tie the #Braves at 6. Gorman then struck out with runners at second and third to end the threat.

Nearly unhittable in 2024 when he notched 49 saves in 53 opportunities, #STLCards closer Ryan Helsley has seen a dip in his effectiveness in ‘25. Still, he’s hoping to remain a part of the only MLB team he’s ever been a part of beyond the trade deadline. mlb.com/cardinals/news…
