10/21) THE THING. (2011) While nothing can touch the original 1982 masterpiece, this prequel offers up a loving tribute to John Carpenter anchored by turns from Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Joel Edgerton. Satisfying for the fans who long to see the events preceding the first film.

10/22) SOMEONE’S WATCHING ME! Speaking of the master. Just a few weeks before cameras rolled on his breakout 1978 smash hit Halloween, John Carpenter wrote and directed this made for TV gem starring Lauren Hutton as a news director being relentlessly stalked in her LA high rise.

10/23) READY OR NOT. A young woman marries into an eccentric rich family and soon discovers firsthand that their absurd privilege is far from their most toxic inheritance when a mysterious post-wedding tradition initiation game night turns into a brutal fight for survival.

10/24) WOMAN OF THE HOUR. Anna Kendrick makes her striking directorial debut with the chilling, confounding and infuriating true tale of Rodney Alcala, a serial killer who casually evaded police throughout the 1970s only to end up a contestant on an episode of The Dating Game.

10/25) IT FOLLOWS. It sure does!

10/26) MAXXXINE. Ti West switches gears and genres for the third installment in his X series. Muse Mia Goth is back in the role she created in the first. This time she struggles to break out of adult films and into mainstream movies in a seedy 1980s L.A. plagued by a mass killer.

10/27) THIS IS THE ZODIAC SPEAKING. A chilling new docuseries that sheds frightening fresh light on the lead suspect in one of the most shocking and infamous cold cases of all time. Watch this back to back with David Fincher’s 2007 masterpiece Zodiac for optimum spine tingles.

10/28) DON’T MOVE. A fresh and taut new thriller about a grief stricken woman who takes a walk in the woods with little will left to live only to find herself furiously fighting for survival against a sadistic stranger and a paralytic nerve agent he has injected into her veins.

10/29) 10 CLOVERFIELD LANE. I’ve heard this one is pretty good.

10/30) ERNEST SCARED STUPID. My young imagination was so taken and shaken by this early 90s Halloween release that I went trick or treating as Ernest P. Worrell that year. Shout out to my Mom for putting together a sick costume for me.

10/31) DONNIE DARKO. The cult film with a crackerjack soundtrack that launched Jake Gyllenhaal’s career and a thousand terrifying bunny suit Halloween costumes.

When it comes to show-themed holiday postings, the others can all go home. Swept Away: A New Musical Tale wins. Give ‘em a hand (no, not literally). IYKYK.

Broadway might’ve run us out of midtown on a rail but tomorrow night we’re heading down to the Bowery. You got two last chances to see these sailors before they’re gone for good. 7 PM and 9:45 PM. You can over imbibe, cheer, clap, stomp, sing along, film and heckle me this time.
