#Afghanistan: Since July 16, the Taliban have arrested dozens of women and girls in Kabul for allegedly violating Taliban dress codes. The arrests deepen the Taliban’s enforcement of their outrageous “vice and virtue” decree. Human Rights Watch's Sahar Fetrat hrw.org/news/2025/07/2…

This isn't a thread about the genocide in Gaza. It's a thread about a likely genocide somewhere else: Ethiopia. But please don't scroll on and ignore it. This story deserves amplification.

We can’t airdrop our way out of an unfolding famine. Not in Gaza. 500,000 people are starving TODAY. The only way to get food to them, at scale, is by land. We’re grateful for the support, but we can’t afford to wait—Gaza is out of food and out of time.

France's leading international law scholars, 160 in all, agree on 8 points, all of them important. Most dramatically: "today, we agree at the very least that the genocidal intent of the Israeli government has crystallized"

We are alarmed by the activation of National Guard troops to DC and the federal takeover of MPD. These unprecedented actions should be seen for what they are: a dangerous distraction not rooted in reality (according to the DOJ crime in DC is at a 30 year low). Deploying military

Honoured to receive this award with my good friend and colleague John H Knox but have to say there are so, so many people that played vital roles in the successful effort to secure global recognition of everyone's right to a clean, healthy and sustainable environment!

I just want to echo what David said! This is a great honor, but one that we both feel that we are sharing with the many people all over the world who have worked to bring human rights and environmental protection together.

Happy to take this on, as so proud of former UN colleagues, not least those 330 killed in Gaza. It's as big a crime as deliberately killing journalists, but gets far less attention. Even though were targeted by IDF in their homes or doing their life-saving, UN-mandated work.

Too many leaders today view human rights as the problem. We know human rights are the solution. They are the foundation of peace. They are the engine of progress. And they are the path out of conflict & chaos to security & hope.
