“this cabinet confirms that Canada’s foreign affairs minister has become something of a joke. Anita Anand replaces Melanie Joly, who held the portfolio for three-and-a-half years. That made Joly, remarkably, one of the longest-serving foreign affairs ministers in this century.

Very interesting commonalities and diversions between PM Pearson and Carney — both having been public servants. Carney “should think himself grateful were he one day to be compared favourably with that other public servant who became prime minister.”

What an honour and pleasure it was to join ⁦Steve Paikin⁩ on set as part of a panel on Canada’s future. This is The Agenda’s final month. The panel airs on TVOntario at 8 and 11 pm tonight. And yes, he is the best interviewer in the country. And my friend.

I understand. But what caused the fires: Canadian emissions or emissions from China, India & the USA? Can we measure what impact another pipeline would have on global warming? What impact would it have on replacing coal? What is the opportunity cost of not increasing oil exports?

Rachel Gilmore (@atrachelgilmore) 's Twitter Profile Photo

In 2021, Canada's per capita emissions were the second highest among the top 10 emitting countries/regions. Oh, and LNG emits about as much greenhouse gas as coal when you account for production, not just burning. So a lot of the premises of these questions are deeply flawed!
