Guido Acasa John Stewart NFBUK Quite simple, crossing the road at controlled crossing points that have adaptive devices as per the reasonable adjustment, is a lot easier than stepping off a bus into uncontrolled cycle lanes.

New SEJ video: Buses Matter. High traffic levels affect them but if buses matter why back LTNs which put more traffic onto bus routes, why floating bus stops which prevent/discourage disabled people from using them and why turn bus lanes into cycle lanes? youtube.com/watch?v=x1cnoX…

John Stewart (@johnjohnstewart) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Once again, London TravelWatch is taking the initiative in pressing for action on buses and are calling on TfL to: Increase the amount of bus lanes Improve the effectiveness of existing bus lanes. Increase other bus priority measures Better co-ordination of roadworks

If you read anything today, read this. An outstanding article on LTNs in the Guardian (which has previously backed LTNs) by one of its senior journalists who lives in Lambeth. The tide is turning! theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

The Guardian reverts to type. Just a day after publishing a balanced LTN article, it runs an opinion piece praising LTNs from the climate charity Possible. If you read it, take it with a pinch of salt as Possible have form in spinning/misleading. theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

It doesn’t matter which way LTN activists spin it. LTNs are NOT fairer for those who live, work, use buses go to school on roads that are taking traffic from LTN streets. Lambeth Council admit ALL their LTNs displace traffic. Is this misinformation Possible ?

This has to be right. To look again at urban motorways. Inter-urban motorways clearly have a role to play. But, increasingly, cities are questioning the value of urban ones. The economy of those places which have removed them have not suffered as a result.

This tweet smacks of desperation. It's as if Possible and their allies had thought they had won on LTNs. But the opposition won't go away - Bristol, West Norwood, Oxford, Tower Hamlets and many more. And Possible doesn't know what to do next.

When Polish immigrants returned from Britain, they brought back many British products and habits. For example, Polish imports of Shortbread, Tea, and Shepherd's Neame ale have surged. But there was one British thing, they left behind: our planning system. Good for them.

Just ignore all the misinformation about low-traffic neighbourhoods: they’re unpopular, ineffective and need to go. After the high court ruled a LTN scheme unlawful, it is important to review all LTNs as many communities are unable to raise the £50k needed to ensure social &

Confirmation that there will be no noisy music events in Brockwell Park this year as Lambeth, the South London Council, loses yet another court case. A mighty relief for residents as the noise from some of the concerts could be heard many miles away.

Possible, London Cycling Campaign, The Guardian, we don't hope to persuade you to change your minds on LTNs (they're too much part of your DNA), but have a read of this response to Izzy Romilly's (Possible employee & LCC trustee) piece in Thursday's Guardian that defended LTNs.

Social Environmental Justice (@socenvjustice) 's Twitter Profile Photo

John Stewart, one of our directors, has taken a careful look at the evidence Izzy Romilly used in her opinion piece in Thursday's Guardian to back up her view that LTNs are popular and effective and found that many of her claims do not stand up: johnstewartliveblog.wordpress.com/2025/05/17/in-…

𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙡𝙞𝙚 John Stewart watchful monkey You do know that Lambeth has a huge amount of social housing around Brockwell Park and that Brockwell Park provides much needed tranquility respite for said social housing tenants (and anyone else for that matter) who don’t have the luxury of a private garden

Today's Sunday Telegraph: Reform councils vow to axe LTNs. Pledge to reverse existing schemes and block new ones in all 10 local authorities it won in elections telegraph.co.uk/politics/2025/…

John Stewart (@johnjohnstewart) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Predictably Guardian headlines pro-LTN letters but also has some from opponents incl former Labour leader of Lambeth Joan Twelves, very much on the left of the Party. Interestingly the old left & those on the right of politics see through the sham of LTNs theguardian.com/uk-news/2025/m…

Little Ninja UK (@littleninjauk) 's Twitter Profile Photo

John Stewart The obvious sham of LTNs. Yet some preach that it’s ok to relocate traffic from their high car ownership road onto less affluent community roads and bus routes. They claim that’s where the traffic they create belongs. One day they must be held to account for their wickedness.
