The Johnson Ferry Family joins First Baptist ATL in mourning the loss of their long-time pastor, Dr. Charles Stanley. We thank God for his life and the impact he made on our city through his commitment to teaching the Bible and reaching the lost.

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads. You have some high callings in scripture to- love your wife as Christ loved the church and to disciple your children. We pray that each one of you seeks to be the dad Christ calls you to be. And we hope you get an epic nap this afternoon!

ā€œLet us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.ā€ Hebrews 10:24-25, NLT

This morning I mentioned in my sermon how influential James K.A. Smith has been to my own understanding of human flourishing ("The Good Life"). I'm working my way through this trilogy and highly recommend them. I also recommend St. Augustine, on whom J. Smith heavily relies.

Today as you celebrate our nation’s independence, let it be a reminder of our dependence on Jesus! ā€œYes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.ā€ John 15:5 NLT
