Even though air quality is unhealthy there is one positive for some. When skies are smoky and milky like today it most often leads to vibrant red and orange hues during sunrises and sunsets. #wx

Once again skies will hazy and milky through the day due to smoke from Canadian wildfires. Most smoke will stay aloft however it may reach the surface at times (may smell smoke), especially through early afternoon. Air Quality Alert remains in effect through midnight. #ilwx

Air quality alert continues as smoke from Canadian wildfires looms over a large portion of the Midwest and eastern half of the United States. Satellite imagery clearly shows the hazy smoky skies over our area and models indicating now through mid afternoon will be the highest

Meanwhile down under… Yes it is winter in Australia but snow is unusual in most areas and some locals received more snow than they have seen in two decades.
