🪨 Exploring The British Pavilion: Shimoni Slave Cave 🪨 Cave_bureau spoke with the local custodians of the coral caves in Shimoni. They recounted how the caves were used as slave holding chambers. #BritishPavilion #GeologyofBritannicRepair #UKKenyaSeason2025 1/4

Today, these cave networks are silted up, leaving nothing but archaeological evidence of this past trauma. Cave_bureau made three-dimensional laser scans of what could be accessed which they turned into digital drawings. 2/4

These were used to create the rattan weave structure, the undulating forms of which exactly follow those of the cave at a scale of 1:1, reimagining a space of trauma as one of repair and healing. Collaborators: Phil Ayres and Jack Young at The Royal Danish Academy 3/4
