BREAKING: under pressure from our branch KCL management has reduced the limit of punitive 50% deduction from 20 to 10 days: the max deduction is now 5 days of salary. While we reserve the right to respond, this shows that collective action works! Let’s keep up the pressure! ✊🏼

Yesterday our e-consultation closed on strike days in response to punitive 50% deductions. 84% voted to back strikes. This is avoidable if Durham University management remove the threat of deductions & publicly state UCEA should re-enter negotiations.

A strange victory, this. I feel like I lost a lot of things while I was fighting for my pension that I won't get back. Some of that was naïveté: the belief in the good judgement of my employers, the good faith of all my colleagues, and my faith in the university as an enterprise

Leeds moved an amendment brought on by Ukrainian colleagues at our branch on the STW motion. It was clear our colleagues were distressed by motion. We tried to mitigate the damage but unfortunately our amendment fell and motion passed unchanged. 1/2

I organised with other members ahead of #UCUcongress to propose a positive programme of solidarity with Ukraine, focusing on education & humanitarian work. Very glad this (motion 6) passed but upset motion 5 carried without @LeedsUCU amendments. We'll publish a statement tomorrow
