The whole China-US supply-demand debate is polluted by shoddy economic reasoning and false narrative premises that have led to piss-poor strategy and policy implementation: ▪️ U.S. demand isn't fixed but driven by income (both wage- and capital-related), which is driven by

People keep saying that "batteries are bad" because: "batteries don't create energy. batteries consume energy." Nothing. Creates. Energy. Energy is neither created nor destroyed. "Energy production" and "energy consumption" are economic terms — not physics terms. We don't

I remember when the right wanted this. Solar panels on the roof, ammo in the basement, an AR for every family member, chickens, cows — independence. Now, propagandists have brainwashed a bunch of people into thinking that solar isn’t “real” energy and that you *have* to rely on

Recent benign CPI and PPI data don't indicate that foreign producers are eating our tariffs. U.S. companies are still selling inventory that they stocked up on pre-tariffs. With the dollar hitting a fresh three-year low today, sharply higher CPI and PPI numbers are coming soon.

Oil & gas px going up would accelerate China’s shift toward EVs. Again, oil is fungible. Taking 10m bpd would cause inflation whenever you are. If China doesn’t get Arab oil, it will just buy it from someone else. It also has SPR exactly for this type of scenario.

Reminder that we already have way more “baseload” capacity than base load. The reason we can’t use it to serve more 24/7 demand is because it’s used for peaks that show up a tiny percentage of the year. Solar + storage and HVAC efficiency free up the existing generation

I keep seeing scores of people saying that unless China intervenes in the Middle-East, it will somehow be their end. Meanwhile, fascinatingly, here’s what Oriana Skylar Mastro, who used to be the Pentagon's top strategic planner on China and is now a professor at Stanford, has

There is way, way too much hubris about Israel’s early successes in Iran. People are projecting Israel’s similar looking victories against Hamas and Hezbollah onto a very different situation. -Hamas was long impoverished, starved of weapons by the Israeli blockade and completely

BREAKING: MIT just completed the first brain scan study of ChatGPT users & the results are terrifying. Turns out, AI isn't making us more productive. It's making us cognitively bankrupt. Here's what 4 months of data revealed: (hint: we've been measuring productivity all wrong)

NYC financiers being surprised & dismayed a socialist won a mayoral primary of that city, when NYC's biggest banks are TBTF (a.k.a. central govt backed, a.k.a. socialism), & when TBTF bank capital is mandated to be held in central govt debt instead of gold (a.k.a. socialism):
