the lack of big-red-button hardware e-stops as an expected norm (or better: a requirement) is an abject failure of the robotics industry. even Spot from BD doesn’t ship with one, and it’s the most mature legged robot platform on the planet. we need to do better.

The problem is clear when you see a student asking themselves: "What am I submitting to NeurIPS?" vs "What important problem am I going to try to solve in the next few years?"

A big challenge for academia is: how do we convince PhD students (and postdocs, and faculty) of publishing less, when much of their career trajectory will be defined by their publication and citation counts

So many layers. Sure you may get a speedup (e.g., AI can read your 9-page paper in seconds and provide feedback). But will the AI provide as good an output as you would have, given enough time? Is it plagiarizing? But mostly, you will stop training yourself to think *hard* (bad!)
