🌀🌀EAST COAST LOW🌀🌀 Lots of chat about "Bomb Cyclone" being a "media beat up." It's an official meteorological term used when the process of "Bombogenesis" occurs with a mid-latitude low. Meaning: the low drops a required 15hPa within 24 hours at this latitude. 10 News

🌀🌀RAPID INTENSFICATION 🌀🌀 The East Coast Low has begun it's rapid intensification. The Low was relatively weak last night at around 1014hPa. By 11am this morning it has dropped to 1002hPa & will continue to drop further in central pressure this arvo. Details 10 News

🌀🌀Update - NOT an East Coast Low🌀🌀 Different lows have different criteria's that need to be filled. For an ECL, one of those criteria's is that it is has a strong easterly wind direction with large amounts of moisture. This low has a large SSW wind direction. 10 News

In saying that, it is still a vigorous low pressure system capable of producing the same weather as an "East Coast Low." Yes, it's technical & confusing but the main message is that it is still capable of producing dangerous weather. 10 News
