There’s so much work to do out west after Hurricane Helene. Investing in the economy, housing, infrastructure, farmers, forests, and families now will help western NC recover and help the entire state in the years to come.

Carolina Domes is one of the small businesses that received a grant from the Western North Carolina Small Business Initiative. I’m here in Rutherford County to see how their recovery is going and to announce my second Helene recovery budget request to the General Assembly.

My team has put to work about 80 percent of the available state funds we’ve received through the end of March. That’s why I’m coming back to the General Assembly with this second request for the next phase of recovery. We are in this for the long haul, so let’s get it right.
