On July 21, the Department of Journalism welcomed the Batch of 2025 with a vibrant Freshers’ Day celebration titled “Take One: Absolute Cinema”, themed around iconic movie characters and cosplay.

On July 24, the Department of Journalism, MCC, hosted a thought-provoking panel discussion titled “BYLINES & BACKSTORIES: Reporting, Revealed” at the Centre for Media Studies.

Canvases of Creativity Unfolded 1st year students got a glimpse into the world of visual storytelling with Mr. Dinesh Kumar, a passionate creator. From pixels to performances, from ideas to impact, he showed us that design is not just about what we see, but about what we feel.

Navigating the Digital Maze! The Department of Journalism hosted an insightful session as part of the MIND Lecture Series 2025, featuring cybersecurity expert Mr. Rodney Roger. From data safety to digital ethics, students explored the real-world impact of cybersecurity.

The Department of Journalism conducted the inauguration of the clubs “Brief Room” and “Inkscribe” for the academic year 2025-2026. The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Daniel J. David, Head of the Department of B.A. English Language and Literature, SFS.

From learning the art of observation to exploring creative perspectives, students experienced photography beyond the lens, enriched with Prof. Manikandan’s insights on Lumix cameras and bird photography.

On 25th August, the Department of Journalism organized a guest lecture to teach the students about entrepreneurship and innovation. This event, titled “Launchpad”, featured Mr, Vijo V.J. Stanes, an innovator and founder of Kumari Innovator Circle.

Day One of the Intra-sports tournament organized by the Department of Journalism kicked off with sprints, long jump, and team games. Volleyball, throwball, badminton, and cricket brought out speed, energy, and team spirit. All three years competed against each other.

On 8th September, the Department of Journalism hosted “Shuttered Stories: Frames Unframed”— a panel discussion where our proud alumni Sriram R, Sri Loganathan, Allen Egenuse J, and Hemanathan Muthusamy returned to campus.

To kick-start the new semester, the Department of Journalism conducted a Mental Health Workshop to evaluate and enhance the mental, emotional and social well-being of the students.
