Speaking during the briefing, Principal Secretary Hon. Susan Auma Mang'eni underscored that MSMEs are the backbone of Kenya’s economy, contributing over 40% to the GDP and creating more than 17 million jobs, especially in the informal sector.

“Previously, efforts to support MSMEs were fragmented. Now, we have a unified approach a one-stop-shop that provides visibility, centralized data, and strategic interventions,” she stated. She noted that the ministry’s objective is to build a robust MSME ecosystem.
