A momentous day! My very first published paper! I’m Jones et al. 2021! This paper on the distal humeral anatomy of extinct kangaroos forms the first of hopefully three papers to come from my MSc thesis. Please head over to link.springer.com/article/10.100… and give it a read!! ☺️ 🦘

1/n How do #marinemammal species coexist? We present our latest #OpenAcess publication in Royal Society Publishing, examining how the most diverse eared seal community in the world partition their niche. TLDR: Skull morphology and body size matter a lot! royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/10.1098/rs…

3/n …showed that body size and skull morphology contribute to eared seals' resource partitioning & community structure. Sea lions w/ larger body sizes and stronger bite forces tend to consume larger prey, favoring resource partitioning with smaller fur seals.

What do you think about scanning the vertebral column of the biggest extant animal? We managed to make 3D models of the whole spine of the blue whale! Thanks to the National Museums Scotland @NtlMuseumScot, Natural Sciences NMS and the curators Zena Timmons, Jerry Herman and Tiago Metello.
