It's official: Chennai is steadily cementing its status as a data centre hotspot. While this trend may not come as a surprise to those tracking the sector closely, fresh data from Savills India puts the spotlight firmly on the southern city’s performance in the 1st half of 2025.

The report says Chennai accounted for 26% of the total data centre space absorbed across India during this period, second only to Mumbai, which continues to dominate. The city also saw 30% of the country’s new supply, underscoring a surge in developer and investor activity.
