Yesterday I completing a municipal court training program with Crossville’s newly appointed city judge, Tiffany Adams. A big thank you to UT’s Municipal Court Specilast, John Eskew, for putting on the training and for being a great resource for judges across the state.

Tyler Caviness will be sworn in as Knoxville City Judge this Saturday, December 16. Justice Sharon Lee will be administering the oath of office. You're invited to join us in celebration for this historic moment. A reception with light refreshments will follow the ceremony.

Today I was honored to take the oath of office and assume my new role as Knoxville Municipal Judge. Thank you to the people of Knoxville for putting your trust in me to be a fair and just administrator of the law. It’s an honor to serve!

Congratulations to Tyler Caviness, our clinical alum and expungement clinic adjunct professor, as he begins his term as our new municipal court judge. A huge thank you to Judge John Rosson for over three decades of service, including many collaborations with the Legal Clinic!

It was an honor to swear in Knoxville’s newest firefighters. Thank you to the 28 public servants who are stepping up to serve our city in this vital role.

Due to icy road conditions, City of Knoxville City Court will not be in session on Thursday evening or Friday morning. City Court will resume normal operations on Monday, January 22.

I was thankful for the chance to help with breakfast and lunch at Magnolia Ave UMC warming center this morning. It’s humbling to see the church’s work and I appreciate the important service they are providing for our community.

Yesterday was bittersweet as we celebrated the retirement of Judicial Assistant Tandara Smith. She served the City of Knoxville in the City Court for 22 years. I wish her the best and many great adventures moving forward!

Last week I had the pleasure of swearing in the new animal control employees as Young Williams Animal Center prepares to begin providing animal control services to the City next week. I look forward to seeing their work in our community.

It was almost a bust, but after standing in the rain for a few minutes outside of City Court, the clouds opened just enough to get a glimpse of the eclipse this afternoon!

Participating in Habitat for Humanity’s “Bipartisan Build” event was an important reminder that, no matter our differences, we can come together and serve our community.

It was great to join the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Commemorative Commission Juneteenth Parade to celebrate community, freedom, and the future we are building together. Happy #Juneteenth!
