I refuse to let this important date go by without acknowledging all networks, friends, & previous colleagues who are still working tirelessly to celebrate and support people. In my book the person always comes first. Disability is not a label. #IDPD2023 Disabled Police Association

We are seeing yet more divisive media reports about disabled people and the welfare system. Promoting the idea that life on disability benefits is a choice - lucrative even – is dangerous. It fuels distrust and negative attitudes towards disabled people.

There are also 1 million disabled people who want to work but are denied the opportunity. Negative attitudes and a lack of reasonable adjustments are among the reasons people fall out of work in the first place.

Disabled people don’t choose their condition, impairment and financial situation. Instead of threatening more cuts to welfare, the government should be strengthening our welfare system and providing more tailored employment support for disabled people.

So much #NIHRARCs work highlighted in this @NIHRevidence collection! It focuses on the often missed opportunities to involve patients and the public in dissemination and implementation efforts.

We often hear 'ableism' when talking about disability discrimination and prejudice. But what exactly is it? In an ableist society, it assumes that the 'normal' way to live is as a non-disabled person.
