Our final workshop is being brought to us by UK COMET and their team University of Bristol Earth Sciences. Introduducing how volcanologists investgate volcanoes, students will get hands on with volcanic rocks, see how drones can image the inside of a volcano, and maybe even experience an eruption

Very excited to be part of this awesome team representing Bristol Volcanology Group and UK COMET today at GirlsIntoGeoscience! My workshop focuses on how we can use drones in volcanology today using data from GeoTenerife drones4geology #VolcanoStories and BristolFlightLab 🛰️🌋

MEET MAST! We’ll be introducing the MAST PhD and Postdoc team here at University of Bristol Earth Sciences today, follow along this thread to find out more about us and the projects we are working on! 🌋🛰️ 🧵

Excited to head to Malawi for the long awaited NSF-GeoPRISMS Southern East Africa Rift System workshop! We received funding from U.S. National Science Foundation in March 2020 (what timing!) and now its finally happening! Patrick R.N. 5 years later, but we finally have a paper to show for our Uganda fieldwork 😅 Lots of cool stuff about how magmatism can rapidly change fault networks in continental rifts 👇👇👇 sciencedirect.com/science/articl… Luke Wedmore Juliet Biggs Ake Fagereng

Supervolcanoes! Last autumn, Colin Wilson from Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington visited us here at University of Bristol Earth Sciences Bristol Volcanology Group to talk about the largest magmatic systems on Earth. The Sentinel-1 time series for Fentale shows 1) a dyke intrusion in 2015, 2) slow uplift in 2017-2025, 3) a new dyke in 2024 further north. The 2015 dyke did not cause an eruption - more info from IGSSA, UK COMET & BGS here: agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.10… sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
