Yesterday Labour announced its advisory panel on (clamping down on) tax avoiders. A welcome move in principle. But the composition raises some red flags Chiefly the inclusion of Sir Edward Troup – a former HMRC official with a less than clear history of tackling tax avoidance 🧵

After 30 years, tomorrow will be my last day in Parliament. It's been the privilege of my life to serve as Barking's MP, working alongside my constituents to improve the lives of everyone in the community. A bittersweet moment as this journey ends. My thanks to everyone.

Amazing snowball effect happening on Bluesky right now. Added 1k followers overnight. I’ve been there on [email protected] for a while but it’s now starting to feel conversational and buzzy like Twitter used to.

This is fantastic from David Lammy . In 2020 with David Pegg Hilary Osborne we showed how Isabel dos Santos used the assets of the Angolan people to become a billionaire. There were UK properties worth £24m. Boris Johnson's government did nothing. theguardian.com/world/2020/jan…
