Joel Harden video MPP @JoelHardenONDP calls on Justin Trudeau and @ViraniArif to protect Hassan Diab’s rights. A deliberate and malicious disinformation campaign is the latest persecution of Hassan Diab, and he continues to be scapegoated for a crime he did not commit.

Once again, we are seeing spurious attacks on Hassan Diab. Held for 3 years in prison in France with no charges or trial, he was released when investigating judges found that there were no grounds for a trial - including eye witness accounts that Hassan was in Beirut at the time.

But political pressure to convict a culprit of a heinous crime meant that, without any new evidence, the French government forged ahead and got its trial. With opinion masquerading as fact, and the most curcumstancial of evidence...

...and ignoring heaps of exculpatory evidence, Hassan was convicted. It is a miscarriage of justice, and many who supported his initial extradition have reveref their stances. This is not about a criminal going free, but the scapegoating of an innocent man.

Instead of remaining quiet, the Canadian government should be loudly and clearly stating that under no circumstances will Hassan Diab be extradited, and put an end to his ordeal once and for all.
