LAPD is illegally sharing license plate data with ICE and Border Patrol. Under California law, police agencies are barred from sharing license plate reader data with out-of-state public agencies or federal entities. lapublicpress.org/2025/06/lapd-i…

As abolitionists our collective liberation depends on mutual solidarity. We stand with our communities impacted by anti-immigrant activity and violence. 🕊

A Juneteenth Reminder from us—Incarcerated labor and immigrant exploitation are rooted in slavery. Juneteenth celebrates the emancipation of enslaved people in Texas on June 19, 1865. California voted AGAINST abolishing slavery just 8 months ago. A thread from DPN👇🏾 (1/6)

The exploitation of immigrants (especially those who are undocumented) persists in California and is often defended with the same arguments used to justify slavery—by both leftists and conservatives. (4/6)

The decision to force out Bonner comes after several moves by the county and their lawyers to prevent the COC from DOING THEIR JOB & investigating cases of severe brutality and murders by LASD.

Shame on Supervisor Kathryn Barger & the COUNTY LAWYERS for their intimidation and removal of two key members of the COC. Tell her that her support of Sheriff violence does NOT go unnoticed! Call her @ 213-974-5555 and visit jlanow.org/CallBarger to see talking points #ProtecttheCOC

Sheriff Robert Luna telling the Civilian Oversight Commission it was “perfectly logical” to deny members of the Office of Inspector General access to the site of a deputy shooting. This comes a day after the LA Times revealed the department has begun transferring inmates to ICE.

Unhoused people are most commonly booked for a top charge of trespassing — a charge frequently used to criminalize people for having nowhere else to go. Guess what would likely solve that problem? Housing, not jail.

36 deaths in 35 weeks. This is the deadliest year in LA sheriffs department custody and most people who have died are pretrial. What more has to happen before Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors finally takes the bold steps needed to close Men’s Central Jail?

California Attorney General Rob Bonta filed a lawsuit today against LASD and LA County over “unconstitutional and inhumane conditions” at LA County jails. Bonta highlights that we’re on track to have “more in-custody deaths in 2025 than at any time in the past twenty years.”

Two days after the LA jails got sued by the state for, among other things, the large number of in-custody deaths this year.... LASD just posted yet another. 37 deaths in 37 weeks.
