We've got some fog this morning in our northern counties. Temps in these areas are well below freezing so some slick spots or icy patches will definitely be possible. A dense fog advisory has been issued until 9 AM.

We had a good soaking rain for everyone yesterday. Some of that rain came down heavy at times then lingering mist and drizzle lasted most of the afternoon. Rain totals ranged from a quarter inch to over a half inch.

The rain we had yesterday in Milwaukee was nearly equal to the rain we had through the first 17 days of the month. Now we stay mostly dry for most of the next week.

Lily & Sofia are our featured pets today! Temps start chilly in the 20s and 30s then warm into the mid 40s. No rain/snow/sleet like yesterday but some clouds return after the morning sunshine. Comment with your pet photo to be featured soon!

Some areas got a little of everything yesterday: rain, snow and sleet. Most of the accumulating snow stayed in our northern counties where they got a dusting to 2" in some areas. Parts of the Milwaukee metro got some sleet resulting in a trace of snow.

Winter Weather Awareness Week continues today with Snow Squalls. These are quick, intense bursts of snow that cause treacherous road conditions. They usually last 30-60 mins. Snow Squall Warnings can be issued typically when we don't already have an advisory or warning in place.

Patchy fog and some mist and drizzle are out there this morning. Thankfully temps are very mild around 40 so no concerns for slick spots but you may need to use your wipers a few times for the AM commute.

Temps have trended a touch cooler the next few days but still around or above average with highs near 50 today then the mid 40s for the end of the week. The beginning of next week still looks mild in the 50s.

A batch of cold air looks to roll in right in time for Thanksgiving and the big shopping weekend. The temperature trend shows a 50% chance for below average temps. The average high for Thanksgiving is 43 so there's a decent chance we stay in the 30s for highs...

We've got a few local teams going out for the High School Football Championship today. Could still have some fog and sprinkles out there this morning then overall more clouds than sun with afternoon highs in the upper 40s in Madison today. Good luck!

We got a decent soaking rain earlier this week but we are still well below average on rainfall for the month of November. Next chance for decent rain isn't until Monday night next week. Last November in 2024 was pretty wet with over 3" of snow as well.

Winter precip types. Rain is when you have warm air from top to bottom. For freezing rain you have a small layer of cold air right at the surface. Sleet starts as rain then freezes into ice pellets. Snow is when you have cold air from top to bottom in the atmosphere

Hard to think that dangerous cold is coming when we have highs in the 50s but that season is fast approaching. Here are some important signs of hypothermia to remember because those sub-zero wind chills will be here before we know it!

Some tips to survive cold weather as we head into our cold season. Wear layers including a thin synthetic layer to start. Keep your feet warm but avoid cotton, wool is better. Cover all exposed skin including your head and neck with a hat and scarf. Stay hydrated and nourished!
