Ever wonder why some players thrive no matter what while others seem to struggle under the same conditions? Some are like dandelions—tough, adaptable, and able to grow anywhere. Others are like orchids—full of potential but needing the right environment to truly flourish.

TWO BALL HITTING DRILL 1) Another problem solving event for hitters. 2) Really challenges you to be good visually early in the process. 3) Presents timing challenges. 4) Forces you to hold your load longer. 5) Challenges your focus. 6) Added challenge is to release only one ball.

Sample of Cubs AA steals of 3B from last season. Near 90% success rate. Players in the org. bought in. AA coaching staff did as well. Success with this requires buy in from all. Skepticism is the enemy. Teach technique first, then timing, distance, and anticipation.

My quick (< 2 minutes) explanation of momentum steal technique at first base. Not for every runner, but for those who understand it and have the athleticism and confidence to pull it off, it's a game-changer. Isolate technique first, then teach timing, distance, and anticipation.

Key to success with momentum steals is comfort off the bag. Comfort is contingent on understanding and mastering mid-shuffle returns at 1B. Here's my brief (<2 minute) breakdown. Effective base stealers never panic. They simply "surrender to technique" and dive back.

🚨 Skenes - Quantifying Success • 1st pitch strikes • 2/3 pitches for strikes • A result in 3 pitches or less āļø Early action is a starting pitcher’s best friend. Attack the zone & stay in control of the count.

🚨 Bobby Witt Jr.'s Reset Process - Take a step out - Find a small spot on your bat - Take a deep breath - Tell yourself something positive - Get back to work āļø So what you missed your pitch? How well can you refocus so you don't miss the next one?

Digging through old videos & found this guy! I have used this game every place I have been. It is a great teacher on how to deal with adversity, speed and being uncomfortable. I’ve changed a lot through the years of coaching but this game will always be a constant!

🚨 DBU 3 Cone Front-Toss • Set up 3 cones in a line from back foot to front • Call out a cone before you flip the ball • Back Cone = Oppo • Middle Cone = Middle • Front Cone = Pull āļø Great drill for working on timing & hitting to all fields!

Unbelievably proud of this young man! I was fortunate enough to coach him in high school and to see the type of man and baseball player he has become is why you get into coaching.
