KCKFD Firefighters rappelling from Tower 6 as a demonstration during Hometown Heroes Night at the Kansas City Monarchs, who are honoring Military, First Responders, and Health Care workers at tonight’s game.

KCKFD Fire crews responded to a structure fire at the intersection of Cheyenne and S. Coy Street. Heavy fire was reported by first due Truck company. Firefighters knocked down the fire quickly and continue to flow water on hot spots. No injuries reported at this time.

The fire at 750 Cheyenne Avenue rekindled at approximately 7:10 pm this evening: A 2nd alarm was dispatched and firefighters continue to battle the fire utilizing a defensive strategy. No injuries reported at this time. Cause unknown.

Kenneth White served as a firefighter with Shawnee Township at what is now Fire Station 17 at 51st and Gibbs prior to being annexed into the city. Mr. White is also a World War 2 veteran that served as a Tank Commander in the Battle of the Bulge. Happy 99th Birthday Mr. White!

KCKFD responded to a structure fire this morning at 3:33 am. First arriving crew reported heavy smoke & flames. Firefighters found a victim whose identity has not been verified. A 72 year old female is known to be an occupant of this residence. Fire is under investigation.

Update: KCKFD tackled a 3rd Alarm structure fire at Spanish Gardens Taco House (2301 Metropolitan Ave) today at 1:51 pm. Quick response, and the fire is now under control with no reported injuries. Crews using a forklift to clear cardboard; investigation ongoing.
