Stephen Bentley and Stephanie Lo 's review on Global genomic pathogen surveillance to inform vaccine strategies: a decade-long expedition in pneumococcal genomics is out on Genome Medicine. It summarised lessons learned in the #GPS_project ! genomemedicine.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.11…
Excited to announce the release of nf-core bactmap, a Nextflow pipeline to produce phylogenies from bacterial genomes. It's been a huge collaborative effort-thanks to Andries van Tonder Thanh Le Viet & @alexgilardet (#bactmap team) + support from the nf-core team Please give it a go 1/3
[📢 Job alert] Stephen Bentley is recruiting a enthusiastic and self-motivated postdoc to contribute to the group's pathogen genomics research jobs.sanger.ac.uk/vacancy/postdo… Closing date: 9 Sep 2021

Excited to announce that the 661K resource is now live at Plos Biology PLOS Biology journals.plos.org/plosbiology/ar… We uniformly assembled, ran quality control and performed general characterisation on 661,405 bacterial genomes that were in the ENA at the end of November 2018.
Exciting preprint out now reporting the global spread of a non-vaccine type pneumococcal serotype 24F spread by lineage GPSC10. Thorough extensive work led by Stephanie Lo !
Wondering how genomics surveillance to inform pneumococcal vaccine strategy ? Search poster L0073 or pop over to section 2c to find Stephanie Lo #ECCMID2022 #GPS_project youtu.be/PGrZH_fcdT0
Don't miss Sophie Belman's fascinating talk on tracking the spread of pneumococcus in South Africa, integrating human mobility and genomic data. (Parallel session 5 at 15.05 EST TODAY). #ISPPD12 #pneumogen #GPS_project
