Our work is finally out Nature Communications showing the impact of long term use of #antibiotocs on #microbiome and common #dysbiosis associations in #EstMB cohort nature.com/articles/s4146… oliveraasmets University of Tartu Estonian Biobank

Honored to belong to this list of amazing scientist presenting at Vif. First time presenting with 37.7C fever tho. When partners in science get sick at the same time, but I at least maintain my voice. oliveraasmets owes me a drink.

Thanks for all the support! <3 Go check our talk on Youtube and learn about the Estonian Microbiome cohort and the effects of long-term antibiotic use: youtube.com/watch?v=eswhu4… #antibiotics #microbiome

As a microbiome scientist, I find myself being involved in both worlds - doing experiments as well as coding behind the computer screen. I am very interested in how we can improve antibiotics use keeping our gut happy and resistance low #MinaUurin #NaisedTeaduses #WomenInScience

When my "gut feeling" becomes a final paper for my PhD! Using carefully selected FMT donors from #EstMB, we show that repeated antibiotics use in the past => weaker mucus layer + increase in mucus degraders (Akkermansia muciniphila, Bacteroides fragilis + others)🧵 #antibiotics

Presenting our pre-print today at 16:30 Room Q, Poster Area 3. Come and grab some stickers on how history of antibiotics use results in higher abundance of mucus lovers and leads to mucus defects Pre-print: biorxiv.org/content/10.110… #IHMC2024 #EstMB #antibiotics #mucus

When you open Nature Briefing e-mail and find a news snippet about the work done in our institute. Proud of my colleagues and the things you do in small Estonia! We have the coolest workplace and most awesome colleagues Estonian Biobank genomicstartu nature.com/articles/d4158…

A new pre-print out lead by Kateryna Pantiukh 🇺🇦! Estonians, although being part of much studied Westernized populations, can still be used for discovering potentially new and relevant microbial species in the gut. Even more than 300 of them! Discovery phase in microbiome still ongoing🔬

Very excited that the final part of my PhD thesis on how #antibiotics usage long time ago can impair #gut #mucus function through the #microbiota is now published in Gut Microbes Taylor & Francis Research Insights! doi.org/10.1080/194909… Time to graduate and then…?

I know, I know. I’m horrible in keeping my feed up to date, but hey - doesn’t make this less of an achievement that PhD is officially done with record high attendance at the defence! Thanks to all people making it possible and Typas Lab for great & thought-provoking discussions
