Near/slightly below seasonal highs are in the forecast through this weekend. Storm chances remain higher today in NorCal and areas east, but this weekend chances become lower and more isolated. Watching mid-late next week for increasing storm chances. KOBI-TV NBC5 News


Sunshine today with slightly hotter highs than the weekend. The chance for additional storms continues today mainly in NorCal and in our eastern counties, but there is low potential in the valley. Increasing coverage of storms in the coming days. KOBI-TV NBC5 News


Monday was another active storm day for our eastern counties with an abundance of lightning. We will again have more storms developing this afternoon mainly to our east but increasing chances west heading into Wednesday. Join KOBI-TV NBC5 News Sunrise until 7a for the latest details.


While thunderstorm chances continue south and east today, Wednesday-Wednesday night the chances move west of the Cascades. Abundant lightning, gusty winds, and small hail will be possible, plus higher risk for new fires to start and spread quickly. KOBI-TV NBC5 News



A disturbance is pushing out of California and heading northeast today to increase our coverage of afternoon storms, including west of the Cascades. High Fire Risk with abundant lightning and gusty winds, plus some storms may be strong enough to produce hail <1". KOBI-TV NBC5 News



4PM- Scattered showers and storms across the eastern and southern half of the area. We've had some activity near the CA/OR border in Jackson and Josephine counties. We will continue to monitor in the coming hours as folks are heading home for the day. KOBI-TV NBC5 News


A new Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued around Dunsmuir, CA until 5:45P. The storm is nearly stationary with possible quarter sized hail and wind gusts to 60mph. KOBI-TV NBC5 News


5:20p- Another Severe Thunderstorm located 12 miles south of Happy Camp moving north at 10mph. Quarter sized hail and up to 60mph wind gusts are possible. KOBI-TV NBC5 News


5:30- Now 2 Severe Thunderstorm Warnings around Hwy 96 in Siskiyou County. Both capable of quarter sized hail and wind gusts to 60mph. KOBI-TV NBC5 News




The Big Cliff Fire in Siskiyou County now estimated at 264 acres and a level 2 Evacuation Warning for SIS-2503, will be producing smoke pushing north-northeast into Southern Oregon later today. If continued fast burning growth extends this weekend, so will the smoke. KOBI-TV NBC5 News

Tons of lightning activity Thursday with the scattered storms, some severe with hail, strong winds, and heavy rain. This afternoon we look to repeat these chances, so if you have outdoor plans remember to head indoors when the thunder roars. KOBI-TV NBC5 News
