The first glimpse anyone ever had of “One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest” was when Jack Nicholson had to accept his BAFTA award for “Chinatown” on location in Oregon. I’m introducing a new 4K restoration of “Cuckoo’s Nest” Friday night at the Academy Museum.

Fun night at Academy Museum of Motion Pictures watching 4K restoration of Milos Foreman's One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Pre-discussion with editors #richardchew & #LynneKlingman moderated by #LarryKaraszewski-- really made me think about all the cutaways/close ups & bits of character business!

National Film Preservation Foundation just rescued and restored the 1914 Thomas Ince/William S Hart film “The Bargain” - Here the actors take a bow… and I couldn’t resist adding some new Addison Rae.

My latest acquisition- a huge Italian poster for “The Patsy”(1963) - here retitled “Jerry 8¾” to play up the moviemaking angle ala “Fellini’s 8½“ which hit big the previous year.

R.I.P. the great Lalo Schifrin. He changed the sound of movie music forever. So many classic scores “Cool Hand Luke” “Enter The Dragon” “Bullitt” “Dirty Harry” to name a few. Here we a few years back at the Oscars when he received his honorary Governors award. A super cool guy.

Happy 99th birthday to Mel Brooks. We are all so lucky to walk the earth the same time as this wonderful, loving, brilliant, funny man. “It’s good to be the King.”
