I don’t think priests (who are themselves male and celibate) should be the ultimate authority on the issues pertaining to women (reproductive rights, marriage) and we need to elevate the voices of women, especially laywomen, more in the Church.

Priests can often be out of touch and it’s harmful when they are (I left the Church as a teen after an insensitive remark from a priest) and while I’m 100% for clerical celibacy, the laity should also have a say since we make up most of the Church!

I will always respect the clergy on their knowledge and authority on theology, canon laws, etc. But it’s clear that their understanding of the female body and marriage life is lacking and these are topics where they need to take the backseat and let women speak.

A shepherd who does not or refuses to understand the realities and needs of his flock cannot be a good shepherd.
