UNHCR's Filippo Grandi started his visit to 🇺🇦 meeting the First Lady Olena Zelenska / Олена Зеленська in Odesa, solidifying our partnership w/ Olena Zelenska Foundation. They met a large displaced foster family & children in a 'Superhero School', providing education in healthcare facilities.

In Uzhhorod🇺🇦, the first Regional Human Rights Protection Centre in Zakarpattia opened w/ UNHCR’s support. It will provide legal aid, public initiatives & info on access to rights to the community, not least vulnerable groups who may need it the most.

Had a great, inspiring meeting today with 🇺🇦 DPM/Minister for National Unity, Oleksiy Chernyshov, discussing practical areas of collaboration to support Ukrainian refugees develop and contribute with their human capital, and make well-informed & prepared decisions on return.

I think with admiration of all the people I met in the past 3yrs after they have escaped death in frontline towns or in cities under attack and still show incredible courage& determination to survive, recover& rebuild a prosperous 🇺🇦 We must continue supporting them in this quest

Russia's repeated attacks on frontline Dobropillia in Donetsk region🇺🇦 have left unimaginable scars, forcing people to flee & leaving those who remain in even harsher conditions. UNHCR continues to deliver life-saving aid, but amidst global funding cuts, more support is crucial.

Today, I joined a MFA of Ukraine 🇺🇦 organised visit to Kryvyi Rih 🇺🇦 to show solidarity with the victims of the Russian missile attack on 4 April that killed 19 people incl 9 children and injured dozens more. It was painful, but equally important to be there Civilians are #NotATarget

This Easter, as families gather with hope in their hearts, the spirit of resilience shines across 🇺🇦. UNHCR stands with the people of Ukraine — today and every day — helping them rebuild, heal & stay strong amidst the everyday hardship.

Over the past night, Russian attacks across Ukraine🇺🇦 killed at least 13 & injured 100+ incl. children Kyiv, Kharkiv & Kherson were among the hardest hit. UNHCR & partners are on the ground, delivering vital humanitarian aid & psychosocial support to affected families.

Honoured to participate in a solemn ceremony today to commemorate the end of WWII, 80 years ago, and remember those who died in that horrific war. The world said “never again”. Yet, here in Ukraine 🇺🇦 and in numerous other places, innocent civilians are killed every day by war.

12 families displaced from frontline Donetsk, Kherson & Luhansk regions received 🔑to apartments in the social housing in Lviv region🇺🇦 refurbished in partnership w local authorities, @moveUkraine, UNHCR & partner NEEKA. Having a safe & dignified 🏡 is a foundation for recovery.
