Presentations are under way in Disability Law. We heard about guardianship & voting, protections for Deaf people interacting with the police, employment discrimination, and issues surrounding accommodations and alcohol use on RHONY. Proud of my students. vanityfair.com/hollywood/real…

Pedro Zamora died 30 years ago today. I’ve been thinking about this post for awhile, and I had hoped/assumed it would be a little more “celebratory.” Despite losing him, I was assuming that we were entering a time of greater hope.

Today in Disability Law presentations focused on the paralympics’ documentation standards, voter suppression, what animates disability resentment, Syracuse bus system access barriers, and how to respond to direct threat claims lobbed at service animals. Another wonderful day.

AMAZING NEWS: A bill passed in NYC today. Tenants no longer have to pay brokers’ fees when the landlord hires the broker (the landlord will pay it). This is monumental. Some of those brokers were charging up to $20k!

Presentations in Disability Law today examined how illiteracy might be covered by the ADA, how sanism influences guardianship, the (missing) law of ESAs, accommodations available to incarcerated people, and an examination of inaccessible jury boxes here in Syracuse courtrooms.
