Busy day for Newburyport’s Batchelders. Earlier, Cat Batchelder led Newburyport girls lacrosse over Hanover in MIAA quarterfinals. Two hours later, Bill Batchelder is being inducted into the Governor’s Academy Athletic HoF introduced by his daughters (both Harvard lax players.)

Tonight is the 10th anniversary of the Lawrence-Chelmsford MIAA tournament game at LeLacheur Park that went until 1:30am!

Remember it well! Wild day Games at 10, 1, 4, and 7 1:00 game started on time. Went extras and the grounds crew needed 90 minutes lol Pretty sure last game started 10:00 and and went 11 innings Wild day.

Headed to MIT to cover the D3 MIAA Tennis Championships. Here are my notes on what begins at 4:30pm.

Bedford has won all but one of their first sets - and not surprisingly, the only thing keeping them from the first set sweep was Weston’s remarkable junior at first singles, Peter Chen. He digs into the court with his feet unlike any player I have ever seen. So fun to watch.

Bedford has defeated Weston for the D3 boys tennis title. They hold a 3-1 lead at the moment, with only 2nd singles still going.

Dover-Sherborn up 2-0 on Martha’s Vineyard at the moment in D3 girls.

Dover-Sherborn has won the D3 girls tennis championships after a sweep of all three singles.

Two figure skating events in Boston were announced today: First, U.S. Figure Skating’s Summer Sizzler is back for a second year in Norwood. The Olympic season preview is August 14th.

The other figure skating event announced today: An Evening with Champions, a Jimmy Fund benefit, returns for its 53rd edition on September 12th and 13th at Harvard's Bright-Landry Hockey Center.
