At the ROOTS Partners' meeting, Dr. Alfred Okidi, PS MINISTRY OF WATER AND ENVIRONMENT 🇺🇬 highlighted progress in Uganda’s target to plant 40 million trees & ⬆️ forest cover to 24% by 2040. He invited schools, cultural institutions & urban authorities & proposed a national tree planting day.





On 10th July 2025, National Forestry Authority-Uganda in partnership with Bank of Baroda will be in Jubiya CFR for a tree growing activity. All partners are invited

*NFA and Bank of Baroda Launch Tree Growing Initiative to Restore Jubiya Central Forest Reserve* 10/7/25, National Forestry Authority-Uganda & Bank of Baroda Uganda launched a joint tree growing initiative to restore 20ha of the Jubiya CFR in Masaka. It was launched with planting of 1ha of indigenous trees.


The Chief Guest, Dr. Michael Ating Ego, Governor Bank of Uganda, commended the initiative for aligning with national sustainability goals and praised NFA's forest management efforts.



Representing Stuart Maniraguha Comms Manager Aldon Walukamba reiterated the Authority’s goal to increase forest cover to 24% by 2040, acknowledging the bank's crucial support. RM Nekesa Esther thanked the bank for its commitment to environmental restoration beyond financial contributions.




I will forever be grateful that I made a contribution to greening my country through tree growing. The Governor Bank of Uganda Dr. Michael Ating Ego launched the Forest restoration drive to restore 20ha in Jubiya CFR.
