As a public health doctor & epidemiologist racism is just as much my business as the pandemic. Structural racism is a major direct & indirect cause of ill health. That’s not a political position. It’s a factual & a moral one. To be ‘political’ is to deny this or to stay silent.

Black women are: 5x more likely to die in childbirth than white women. 8x more likely to be hospitalised with #COVID19 whilst pregnant. Today's UK Parliament Human Rights Committee report is a sad reminder that the Government must set targets to address these shockingly unequal health outcomes.

Today is #prematurityawarenessday. This is my middle child, she was born preterm. Her face was the size of a soy sauce package. I spent my career trying to prevent adverse birth outcomes like PTB. Health mothers and healthy babies, it is an achievable goal.
