Queensland has an incredible community of mathematicians (and other mathsy friends) working toward understanding and protecting our environment, species, and ecosystems. Once a year, we host them at the Applied Mathematical Ecology Group (AMEG) at QUT for a two-day symposium.

We started these in 2020 when we were feeling isolated and siloed, and it’s grown to be an inspiring and refreshing annual event. About 70 of our friends get together to nerd out on maths, share new ideas and methods, and build on each others’ questions openly and generously.
