End of term is such a happy time for most families but not for the parents at Mencap NI whose kids with special educational needs still don’t have places for next year. The lack of communication from the EA & failure from Dept Education to address this crisis is not good enough.

When I had my second child there was no maternity leave & I went back to work 2 weeks after giving birth & as I was breastfeeding, took my child with me. I was vocal because I believe this is wrong & puts women off entering politics. Thankfully MLAs now have maternity leave.

Had coffee with my Palestinian friend today. Explaining Gaza to a 5 yr old is hard - but kindness isn’t. Seeing my safe, well-fed kids sit with someone who’s endured so much was a reminder: so much of life is luck. Which is why we must keep speaking up. Wearing his lovely gift 🙏

I work on many issues & care deeply about those I represent. When I look at my happy, healthy kids I can’t not think of the children & their parents in Gaza. I can’t be silent. I think most South Belfast constituents expect me to speak out & if they don’t, they can vote me out 👍
