Emma Rainey 🍉 When Leinster Rugby sang 'Celtic Symphony' on a plane from Glasgow in 2019, there wasn't a hint of outrage from establishment media or centrist rugby dads of D4. In fact, DublinLive said the team were "celebrating in style". I guess different rules apply for middle-class men...

When I hear someone repeat the racist trope that Israel "made the desert bloom" I think about how Israel literally wiped hundreds of agrarian Palestinian villages, which had been sustaining on their own farming techniques for centuries, off the map.

In the absence of any adults in the room, so glad to see Israeli and Palestinian mothers make this important stand. Great to see diplomats and politicians join them.

1/2 I was with Shane MacGowan one day in a London hotel when he saw two men walking down the street outside. He jumped up and beckoned them in - they were Paddy Hill and Gerry Conlon. Shane ordered tea and after they left I asked him why they became emotional when they saw him.

2/2 Shane said he wrote a song for them while they were (wrongly) imprisoned, ‘Streets of Sorrow’, which the BBC of course banned. The money from the song went towards their legal costs. It was a beautiful moment to witness. What a beautiful soul 🇮🇪 #ShaneMacGowan
