Recording this was fun! I talk about data science education from the perspectives of Bootstrap (K-12), our Data-Centric intro to Computing curriculum (univ), and connections to socially-responsible computing (part of Brown CS). A blend of ideas on theory and practice.

Excited to have joined the Editorial Board for Communications of the ACM, to handle contributed articles on Computing Education (along with Sally Fincher). Our goal is to strengthen the reputation of CSEd within the broader CS community by showcasing the best of what we're learning in CSEd.

I often think "I wish I knew how to do that" when I see what comes out of this group. Should be a fun way to experience what CS research is like.

Note to self: releasing grades to 450 students and sending 157 paper notifications (as a conference chair) on the same day does not do one's inbox any good ...

When I have a lot of pieces of (research) info to organize, I write the pieces on diff color post-its and move them around a whiteboard. Any digital tool recos for something like this other than Jamboards (which lack export of organized data)?

CSEds: ever done a study where you gather some data as part of a course assignment and some data with students outside of the course, but only paid the outside students (on grounds that ones in course are getting assignment credit instead)? Asking wrt IRB.

We're doing qualitative coding. For each top-level code in a category, we also select multiple modifier tags (think "pos/neg sentiment", "examples yes/no", etc.). The end result is exponential blowup of code combinations. What is an appropriate measure of inter-coder reliability?
