Sara Sharif’s birth mother Olga, joins the sentencing hearing at the Old Bailey remotely from Poland. Her impact statement is being read by the prosecutor in which she says: The only thing I had left to give my daughter was a beautiful Catholic funeral which she deserved.

Sara’s mother says, she was always smiling. She is an “angel”. In her impact statement she describes the perpetrators as “sadists”

Urfan Sharif’s defence barrister: Nothing I say is intended to diminish or mitigate what that poor child has gone through. And that the case undoubtedly “evokes a sense of outrage, anger and disgust.”

Urfan Sharif sentenced to life imprisonment with minimum term of 40 years for the murder of Sara Sharif. Beinash Batool sentenced to life with minimum term of 33 years for the murder of Sara Sharif. Faisal Malik sentenced to 16 years for causing or allowing Sara’s death.

Pankaj Lamba, the main suspect in the Harshita Brella murder case made a phone call to a friend revealing the exact location of a car, believed by the Brella family’s legal team to be the vehicle where Harshita’s body was found, Channel 4 News can reveal exclusively.

New: Crown Prosecution Service has charged Pankaj Lamba with the murder of Harshita Brella. He’s also charged with two counts of rape, sexual assault, and controlling or coercive behaviour.

In a joint statement, the CPS and Northamptonshire Police say: “We are committed to securing justice for Harshita and her family.”

Further update on Harshita Brella murder case: The IOPC has served gross misconduct notices on 2 detective constables at Northamptonshire Police for alleged failings to progress enquiries and communicate with Ms Brella after her report of domestic abuse at the end of August 2024
